Melbourne darlings Merpire and Feelds present: Wilson’s Prom: A world within a high school dream-state of teenage love and hopeful hopelessness. Set on polished gym floors while ducking in and out of waves of taffeta comes a movie-like EP that the pair have completely co-written, produced and mixed during isolation.
Merpire and Feelds explore the idea of one’s imagination being free of order, of time and themes. They express this through their approach with production, combining hints of past decades and genres of music in each song, an indulgence they were firm on carrying through to create a body of work that was limitless and unrestricted, while adapting to living in an opposite environment themselves.
With each song comes the tormented inner-workings of one of three characters' minds, on the night of the prom - a night where secrets kept for what seem like an eternity are bursting to be revealed, where love is desperate to be proclaimed and where hearts may break. A night where anything can happen.
